At the Memorial Opera House we use theatre and the arts to build community and create a sense of belonging. We wouldn't be able to achieve that mission without the tremendous financial support of grants, funding and in kind donations. We are proud to partner with the following organizations, businesses and governmental bodies to provide inspiring and impactful programming and preserve the historical treasure that is our home.
The Memorial Opera House was awarded a $35,000 US Department of Interior matching grant by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. The goal of the grant funded project is to hire an architectural and/or engineering firm to conduct a thorough conditions assessment of the building, and to create a project manual for future rehabilitation of the 125 year old historic structure. This project has been funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Fund administered by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology.
The Memorial Opera House Foundation has provided financial support for roller tube motors for 3 projection screens utilized on sets; horizontal beer coolers for upstairs lounge and east lobby; lighting and microphone needs for 2016 production of Grease; completion of renovation of Box Office and Lounge; the appearance of Ed Asner in A Man & His Prostate; funding for the Memorial Opera House staff to attend the American Association of Community Theatre Conferences.
